2023 Population: President Tinubu pledges support, new date to be announced soon

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu received Chairman of National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa at the State House, Abuja, and pledged to support the NPC after being “briefed on the Implementation Status of the 2023 Population and Housing Census”.

As revealed by the NPC after the meeting at the State House on Thursday 6 July, 2023, the Chairman of the NPC “requested the issuance of a proclamation for a new Census date later this year or early next year”.

According to the National Population Commission (NPC):

Today, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, received in audience the Chairman of National Population Commission, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, fnsa and his team at the State House, Abuja.

NPC Chairman briefed the President on the Implementation Status of the 2023 Population and Housing Census and requested the issuance of a proclamation for a new Census date later this year or early next year.

In his remarks after receiving a briefing from the NPC Chairman, President Tinubu said ‘I have listened to you and we will support you. The accuracy and integrity of your data are important to Nigerians and our national economic development programmes. Good luck.”
