Revival – A Ministry of the Holy Spirit

Text: Read Ezekiel 37:1-12.

The Bible says in verse 6 of the text above “And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the Lord .”

Everything is possible with God. Even when it looks like there is no way, God will come and make a way – He raised Lazarus back to life even after being dead for four (4) days.

Jesus cried with a loud voice “Lazarus, come forth”, and the dead Lazarus came forth.

No matter how dead that situation is, Jesus Christ will revive it.

Introduction: Almighty God is ever ready to release the fire of revival upon His children from generation to generation.

The spiritual state of believers before revival comes can be described as ‘Dry Bones’ – a situation when hopelessness is standing right in front of believers.

Things begin to turn around for good when the mercy of God locates that hopeless situation and bring revival and restoration.

What God Expects

God expects every believer to:

  1. Fear the Lord. Psalm 34:9 – “O fear the Lord , ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.”
  2. Make Jesus his/her standard
  3. Love God wholeheartedly as well as neighbor
  4. Live in Holiness
  5. Live for Jesus Christ
How One Becomes A Dry Bone
  1. Disobedience to divine commands
  2. Walking in the counsel of the ungodly. Read Psalm 1:1
  3. Standing in the way of sinners. This means doing what sinners do. Read Psalm 1:1
  4. No more interest in spiritual values. Galatians 2:18 – “For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.” This means going back to those sins you stopped committing.
  5. Loss of hunger for the word of God
Who Are The Dry Bones
  1. Prayerless Christians
  2. Caged Believers
  3. Spiritual Babes
  4. Rebellious Believers
  5. Believers without purpose
  6. Undependable Vessels. Proverbs 25:19 – “Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.”

  1. Complete Repentance. 2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
  2. Absorbing the word of God. Colossians 3:16 – “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
  3. Heart focused towards God. Psalm 42:2 – “My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?”
  4. Living a life of holiness
  5. Personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Conclusion: Everything is possible with God only. No matter how Dry those Bones are, God is very powerful to revive them (Read the Text above). He is ever ready to bring restoration to His children who have lost great blessings due to their sinful ways as long as they can humble themselves, pray and ask.
Prayer: Every Dry Bone in any area of my life, receive the power of revival now, in the name of Jesus.
