This was made known by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).
Mobolade defeated his Republican opponent to clinch the position.

Nigerian-American Yemi Mobolade Elected As First Black Mayor In US Municipal, Defeats Republican Opponent
It’s a new day in Colorado Springs as Yemi Mobolade, a Nigerian-American, becomes the first black man to be elected as Mayor and leader of Colorado Springs, a municipality in Colorado in the United States.
Yemi Mobolade had won against his opponent, a Republican, Wayne Williams in the city’s runoff election with a vote of 57% to Williams’s vote of 43%.
Yemi Mobolade will be succeeding Mayor John Suthers as the 42nd mayor of the city of Colorado Springs.
