The Italian side clinched a lone goal victory over their German opponents earning them a crucial first leg advantage.
Edoardo Bove netted the only goal of the game for Jose Mourinho’s side in the 62nd minute and the hosts stood strong until the final whistle.
Bove, 20, passed into the bottom corner to score his first European goal after Tammy Abraham’s shot was saved.
