Sudan Unrest: More than 800,000 may flee – United Nations (UN)

The United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Refugees has said, more than 800,000 people may flee Sudan as a result of the ongoing severe fighting in the country.

Raouf Mazou told a member-state briefing in Geneva, Switzerland, “in consultation with all concerned governments and partners, we’ve arrived at a planning figure of 815,000 people that may flee into the seven neighbouring countries”.

He added, the estimate encompasses around 580,000 Sudanese while the rest are existing refugees living temporarily in the North African country.
