When we find ourselves in any trouble, as long as we can humble ourselves and “call on the name of the Lord”, He will surely come to our rescue.

Signs Of Revival

How do we know that spiritual Revival has occurred in a person’s life or in the Church?

Real signs of revival must encompass some or all of the following:

Joy and Gladness
Joy and Gladness

  1. New attitude of obedience among Christians: Revival brings about an attitude of obedience that is not forced to whatever God requires or commands. Ezra 10:10-12 – “And Ezra the priest stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed, and have taken strange wives, to increase the trespass of Israel. Now therefore make confession unto the Lord God of your fathers, and do his pleasure: and separate yourselves from the people of the land, and from the strange wives. Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, As thou hast said, so must we do.”
  2. Genuine conversion of souls: Where there is no repentance, there will be no revival. The path to repentance is, first, confessing and forsaking your sins, and asking God for forgiveness. 1 John 1:9-10 – “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” From here on, genuine conversion of souls start to take place.
  3. Extraordinary manifestation of the Power of God: When revival comes, people get filled with the Holy Spirit. This is so because Revival is a Ministry of the Holy Spirit. Amazing signs and wonders take place when the preaching of the word of God is filled with the Holy Spirit. Read Acts 8:4-7 – Philip went down to the city of Samaria, preached Christ and miracles happened instantly.
  4. Physical and Spiritual Healing: Read Acts 3:1-10 – Peter and John went up into the Temple, they met a man lame at the gate of the Temple which is called Beautiful. Peter said “silver and gold have I none”, but, he gave the lame man “Jesus Christ of Nazareth” and that made him to “rise up and walk” – instantaneous healing!
  5. Joy and Gladness among people: Revival that happened in Jerusalem and Samaria caused extraordinary joy and gladness among the people. Acts 2:46-47 – “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
Conclusion: Prayer, Fasting, and other spiritual exercises lead to the Spirit of God being poured out on a person or people and the signs of revival are experienced.
Prayer: O Lord, let your word of revival bear fruit in my life, in the name of Jesus.
