Presidential Election Tribunal: Peter Obi and Labour Party ask proceedings be televised

An application has been filed by the Labour Party (LP) and its 2023 Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, asking that, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal proceedings be televised.

This is coming after a similar application by the 2023 Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The Tribunal adjourned the pre-hearing session on Obi and the Labour Party (LP) Petition till May 17, 2023, at the instance of the Petitioners.

Livy Uzoukwu, Counsel to Peter Obi, told the Tribunal that further pre-hearing should be adjourned till a subsequent date as they have pending processes to be filed and served.

Mr Uzoukwu said it was an amicable decision between the Petitioner and the Respondents, encompassing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Tinubu to adjourn the matter till May 17, 2023.

Counsel to INEC, APC, President-elect and Vice President-elect, Kashim Shettima, confirmed the adjournment was a unanimous decision.
