Jan-Christian Dreesen: Bayern Munich new CEO thanks supervisory board for ‘trust in me’

Bayern Munich new CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, has expressed gratitude to the club’s Supervisory Board after being appointed to take over CEO duties at the Munich based football club.

Dreesen’s appointed was announced on Saturday 27 May, 2023, same day Bayern Munich emerged winners of the Bundesliga 2022/23 title.

Bayern Munich clinched their eleventh (11th) consecutive Bundesliga title after defeating FC Koln 2-1 on Saturday in Cologne.

Dreesen said, “I would like to thank our supervisory board for the trust they have placed in me”, after being appointed as replacement for Oliver Kahn.

According to fcbayern.com:

Oliver Kahn is no longer CEO of FC Bayern München AG. Hasan Salihamidžić will also be replaced as board member for sport. This was decided by the club’s supervisory board. Kahn will be replaced by the current vice-chairman of the board Jan-Christian Dreesen. Salihamidžić’s successor is still to be decided.

Kahn was appointed to the FC Bayern München AG board on 1 January 2020. On 1 July 2021, he took over as CEO.

Bayern Munich new CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, after his appointment, said: “First of all, I would like to thank our supervisory board for the trust they have placed in me. Actually, I had planned something else in my life – but when FC Bayern calls, you leave everything else behind. This club has always been a matter of the heart for me and I also know what positive power it can develop. I will continue to use all my energy to be successful with FC Bayern in all areas and I am looking forward to the new task. Those who know me know how much the club, its employees and our fans mean to me.”
