At least, twenty-two (22) lives have been lost encompassing children when an overcrowded tourist boat capsized in the Southern region of India, as disclosed by authorities.

When the converted fishing vessel capsized, some passengers managed to jump off and swim themselves to safety.
The dead included eleven (11) people from a single family, as reported by Manorama News Channel.
Police say they were searching for the boat owner and that a case of homicide had been registered against him.
Jeevan George, Tanur police official, disclosed, according to estimates initially, there were about forty (40) people, most believed to be domestic tourists, on board, including children.
