Premier League: Newcastle United 6-1 Tottenham – Magpies crush Spurs, Murphy and Isak net braces

Newcastle United took a huge step towards a Uefa Champions League qualification as they battered Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League match at the St. James’ Park on Sunday 23 April, 2023.

The Magpies made light work of the Spurs by winning six goals to one to clinch all three points of the encounter and buttress their Uefa Champions League hopes next season.

Antonio Conte’s side found themselves five (5) goals behind in a short period of twenty-one (21) minutes.

Jacob Murphy netted a brace (2′, 9′) for the hosts, Alexander Isak recorded his name twice (19′, 21′) on the scoresheet, Joelinton and Callum Wilson found the back of the net in the 6th and 67th minutes respectively.

Harry Kane pulled one back for the visitors in the 49th minute.

With this result, Newcastle United have climbed to third on the Premier League table with 59 points while Tottenham Hotspur are fifth with 53 points.
