Whitney Adeniran: Lagos State Government reiterates commitment to justice for 12-year old Chrisland Schools student

The Lagos State Government has reassured its commitment to ensuring justice is served for Whitney Adeniran, who died during the Inter-house sports competition of her School, Chrisland Schools, Ikeja.

Whitney Adeniran, a 12-year old student of Chrisland Schools, died on Thursday 9 February, 2023, and according to a Post-mortem report submitted to the LASG, she died of “Asphyxia and electrocution”.

The Lagos State Government has come out to assure the parents of Whitney Adeniran that “no effort will be spared to get justice for her”.

Via a statement through the Ministry of Education, the Lagos State Government, paid a “condolence visit” to Whitney Adeniran’s parents where the assurance for justice was given.

The Lagos State Ministry of Education has assured the parents of Whitney Adeniran, the Chrisland pupil who died during the school sports day, that no effort will be spared to get justice for her. 

Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo stated this during a condolence visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adeniran at their residence in Lagos. 

Mrs. Adefisayo confirmed the receipt of the post-mortem report on the cause of Whitney’s death and restated the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, that nothing will be spared at ensuring appropriate interrogation of the cause and prosecution of anyone found culpable. 

She assured the parents that the Ministry of Education shares in their grief and will be with the family in the journey for justice. 

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visit by Mr. Abayomi Abolaji, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education; Mrs. Abiola Seriki-Ayeni, Director General, Office of Education Quality Assurance; Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, Executive Secretary, Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency and some Directors of the Ministry.
