Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, has charged Muslim faithfuls “to beseech Allah for peace, improved security, and sustainable development for our country, Nigeria, and for Kwara State in particular”.

He also charged “the faithful to live by the spirit of the Holy month in which destinies are reshaped for good”.
Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, announced the holy month of Ramadan kicks off on Thursday 23 March after sighting the crescent moon.
Governor Abdulrazaq said: “I congratulate the Muslim community worldwide, especially in Kwara State, on the dawn of the month of mercy — Ramadan 1444 A.H. I congratulate the leader of the faithful in Kwara State, Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, on this spiritual development.
“Through almsgiving and firm commitment to a better world in our own corners, I charge the faithful to live by the spirit of this holy month in which sins are forgiven, destinies are reshaped for good, and servants of God are given a brand new opportunity to get closer to Him.
“I charge the faithful to beseech Allah for peace, improved security, and sustainable development for our country, Nigeria, and for Kwara State in particular, as we begin a new chapter in our democratic journey.
“I wish all of us God’s abiding mercies in this holy month and always.
“Ramadan Mubaarak to everyone!”
