2023 Elections: ‘Election is a contest not war, refrain from acts of violence’ – INEC Chairman to Governorship candidates

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has implored “Political Parties, candidates and supporters to see election as a contest”.

Prof. Yakubu made this statement at the Election Security meeting held at the INEC Headquarters in Abuja.

The INEC Boss implored “2023 Governorship candidates to not see election as war and refrain from acts of violence”.

The 2023 Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections will take place on Saturday 18 March.

According to INEC:

The Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security meeting at the INEC HQ, Abuja. The Governorship/State Houses of Assembly elections, scheduled for 18th March is on the agenda. 

INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu implores political parties, candidates

and their supporters to see election as a contest, not war and “refrain from acts of violence that may mar the elections or compromise the security of our personnel, observers , the media and service providers.”
