The World Cup mobile homes were used as accommodation for fans during the tournament.

Southern Turkey and Northern Syria were hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake on Monday, a week ago.

Currently, almost 40,000 people are believed to have died as a result of the disaster that struck the two neighboring countries.

Aid organisations have warned, above one million people have been rendered homeless in Turkey and the number could be more shocking in Syria.

In both countries, rescue works are beginning to slow down.

“The plans of the 2022 World Cup always intended for such temporary accommodations to be donated.

“However in view of the urgent needs in Turkey and Syria, we have taken the decision to ship our cabins and caravans to the region, providing much needed and immediate support to the people of Turkey and Syria”, a Qatari official said.
