Chelsea have spent a whooping “£600m” on 17 new players during the past two transfer windows, however, the absence of a sharpshooter was made very clear in the goalless draw against Fulham in the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on Friday 3 February, 2023.

Former Arsenal striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Chelsea’s only fit number nine, has been abandoned from the Blues’ Uefa Champions League squad and did not even field in the encounter against the Cottagers as several big-money additions made their debuts.
Enzo Fernandez, Argentina’s World Cup-winning midfielder, who emerged as British record signing of £107m on deadline day, performed below expectation as Chelsea’s top four hopes suffered another blow.

Graham Potter’s Chelsea are sitting on the ninth spot in the top flight table, nine points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
Potter told BBC Sport: “Fulham have been together a while. We’re at a different stage of that – players coming back from injury and new players.
“We need time to settle everything down. We were missing the connection, fluidity and confidence that comes from knowing each other.”

Former Manchester United defender, Gary Neville, said on Sky Sports: “Potter is going to need some time.
“Even though they spent £600m, I looked at every department of the team and thought they need to get better. I was not impressed but it is going to take a lot of time, you can’t judge them on this.
“Potter has a lot of work to do turn this team into a unit. Chelsea are toothless in attack, that is a real problem for them.”
• Is “time” really what Graham Potter needs?
