The Serbian professional tennis player, a 22-time major winner, has held the record for the most weeks as men’s world number one since March 2021.
35-year old Djokovic said, “I’m flattered, proud and happy”.
Djokovic described Graf as “one of the greatest, most legendary tennis players that ever played”.
Germany’s Steffi Graf clinched 22 Grand Slam singles titles between 1987 and 1999.
