Naira Abuse? This simply means when Naira notes are poorly handled or get defaced…
It is a warning from the Nigerian Apex Bank – “Stop Abusing The Naira”.
How can the Naira be abused:
- Spraying: So many are guilty of this. Throwing/Spraying Naira notes at social gatherings or events such as parties (birthday, wedding) and so on
- Selling of the Naira
- Money Bouquet: comprises banknotes (Naira) arranged in a way similar to flower bouquets
- Squeezing of the Naira: Let me start by saying “Hmm” to this. A lot of us do this unconsciously most times. Still, we have to avoid abusing our legal tender
- Defacing: deliberately writing or inscribing words, signs, symbols, drawing or caricatures on banknotes (Naira)
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), “It is your civic duty to protect the Naira. Report Naira abuse today.”
