With this victory, Carlo Ancelotti’s side have close the gap to leaders, Barcelona, to five points.

Real Madrid were the dominant side in the first half, and thought they had a lead through defender Antonio Rudiger, however, his goal was cancelled by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for a foul on Yunus Musah by Karim Benzema.

Marco Asensio’s 52nd minute goal placed Los Blancos ahead and two minutes later, Vinicius Junior extended the lead to two.

Vinicius marked his 200th appearance for the Spanish La Liga defending champions with the goal, perfectly converting striker Benzema’s through pass.

“It was a good game. We are on the right track. The first half was not as good as we wanted, but the second half we controlled the game well and created chances,” Madrid Boss, Ancelotti said, in his post-match comments.
