The Grammy Awards 2023 has come and gone, and Nigeria clinched one prize through singer Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems.

Tems won the award under the Category ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ for her contribution in Future’s hit song ‘Wait For U’, where he also featured Canadian rapper, Drake.
Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, officially emerged the first Nigerian female artiste to win the Grammy Award.
Peter Obi, 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has extended his congratulatory message to the beautiful songwriter after winning the very prestigious prize.
The former Governor of Anambra State described Tems as “an example of brilliance and creativity of the Nigerian Youth”, further saying, “Naija will keep on winning”.
Obi said: “I am delighted to celebrate the Nigerian artiste Tems who won the Grammy Award for the Best Melodic Rap Performance on Sunday. She’s an example of the brilliance, creativity, and undaunted spirit of the Nigerian youth. Naija will keep on winning.”
