On Monday, the country moved to hinder Federal workers from downloading the application in the future, the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat said in a statement.
TikTok’s method of collecting data provides considerable access to the contents of the phone, the statement said.
TikTok expressed disappointment by the decision made by Canada.
A spokesperson of the Chinese-owned social media platform said via email: it was issued “without citing any specific security concerns about TikTok or contacting us to discuss any concerns prior to making this decision”.
