Australia Shark Attack: Teenage girl mauled to death in Swan River

A 16-year old girl has lost her life after being attacked by a shark while swimming in a river in the Western region of Australia.

She was confirmed dead after being pulled out from the Swan River in the Perth suburb of Fremantle on Saturday.

According to some beliefs, the teenager from Perth was riding jet skis with friends on the river when the unfortunate incident occurred.

From Western Australia Police, Inspector Paul Robinson, said, it was possible the girl had jumped in the water to swim with dolphins visible nearby.

He went ahead to described the incident as “very very traumatic” and the girl’s family was “absolutely devastated by the news”.

People have been warned to abide by any beach closures as well as take “additional caution”.
