US School Shooting: Officials had warnings about six-year old with gun – Lawyer

A lawyer for the teacher of the Richneck Elementary School in Virginia shot by a six-year old pupil has revealed officials of the school had several warnings the boy had a gun but refused to take necessary action.

25-year old Abigail Zwerner has been released from hospital last week after being shot in the chest earlier this month in her classroom.

The lawyer who has the intention to file a lawsuit, said “this tragedy was entirely preventable.”

Authorities have described the shooting which happened on 6 January as “intentional”.

The sad incident shook the city of Newport News in Virginia as well as led to questions being asked about legal consequences that may follow.

Attorney Diane Toscano, said: “On that day, over the course of a few hours, three different times – three times – school administration was warned by concerned teachers and employees that the boy had a gun on him at school and was threatening people. But the administration could not be bothered.”
