Anita Pointer, from the Grammy-winning Pointer Sisters, has died at the age of 74, the Publicist of the singer said in an announcement.

She died at her Beverly Hills home in California surrounded by her family.
Via a statement, her family said they were deeply saddened by her passing. “Heaven is a more loving beautiful place with Anita there.”
Of the four sisters, Anita Pointer is the second oldest, together with her siblings became famous with hits including Jump (For My Love) and Fire.
With a combination of soul, funk and R&B, the group released their eponymous debut album in 1973. Yes We Can Can, a tune of funk, became the breakout hit of the album in the United States (US).
Anita Pointer’s life had some tragedy – in 2003, Jada Pointer, her only child died from cancer at the age of 37. She went ahead to raise her granddaughter Roxie McKain Pointer.
We are “comforted in knowing she is now with her daughter Jada and her sisters June & Bonnie and at peace”, the family said.
