Goncalo Guedes opened the scoring against the run of play for the visitors in the 26th minute, capitalising on a brutal error by Alisson to score an easy goal.

Darwin Nunez equalised for Jurgen Klopp’s side just before the break, volleying home after an incredible long pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The FA Cup holders took the lead for the first time seven minutes into the second half, as Mohamed Salah pounced on a misplayed header by Toti Gomes in his own box.

Julen Lopetegui’s side battled back to level the match in the 66th minute, as Hwang Hee-chan combined well with Matheus Cunha before the ball somehow found its way past Liverpool’s goalkeeper.

These two sides will head to a third round replay.TheAthletic
