Due to the relaxing of the zero-Covid policy, to travel in and out of China will become easier starting from Sunday 8 January.

Presently, China is experiencing a huge surge in Covid cases, and reports say, hospital are overwhelmed with the influx of covid-related cases.

Some countries in the EU have imposed testing already, such as Spain, Italy and France, but Germany are still monitoring the situation.

Outside the EU, England require pre-flight testing on arrivals from China from Thursday.

The negative tests recommendation on Wednesday is coming from the EU’s Integrated Political Crisis Response group (IPCR).

The group is made up of officials from the EU’s 27 government.

The Group went further to advise:

  1. Random testing of flights from China be introduced
  2. All passengers on flights to and from China wear face masks
  3. Wastewater monitoring be conducted at airports
Despite the recommendations, whether the EU-wide policy will be introduced or not is yet to be ascertained, however, each state within the Union can go ahead and set their own policy.
