China has stopped the issuing of short-term visas to persons from South Korea and Japan in retaliation for Covid restrictions on travellers from China.

Beijing says, until “discriminatory” restrictions on entry against China are relaxed, the pause on South Korean visas will remain intact.
South Korea and Japan are two countries out of several others that have imposed entry restrictions on Chinese travellers.
The entry restrictions are placed on travellers from China due to the surging Covid cases in the country since the Asian nation relaxed its zero-Covid policy.
South Korea, stopped issuing tourist visas for those coming from China last week. An action which the Chinese Foreign Ministry termed as “unacceptable”.
Japan has no problems allowing travellers from China into the country, however, they must provide a negative test for Covid.
