US Winter Storms: Blizzard turns Buffalo city into ‘war zone’

A harsh winter storm that has swept through the continent of North America has gone ahead to convert Buffalo City in New York State into a “war zone”, the Governor says.

On Monday, the city suffered 25 deaths, which increased from 13 as at Sunday.

Kathy Hochul, New York State Governor, said, since Thursday “this is a war with mother nature and she has been hitting us with everything she has”.

Nationwide, at least 50 people have lost their lives as a result of Blizzard conditions which stretched from Canada to the Border of Mexico.

In upstate New York, the Region around Buffalo has been the worst hit.

A native of Buffalo, Governor Hochul, said, “It is (like) going to a war zone, and the vehicles along the sides of the roads are shocking.”

Residents were battling a “life-threatening situation” as many emergency vehicles were not able to get to area that are worst affected or for stuck in snow themselves.
