Several hospitalized after crush at Asake’s Concert in London

Several people were hospitalized in conditions that are critical on Friday at a Concert venue in London after a crush – where Nigerian Afrobeats Singer, Ahmed Ololade, professionally known as Asake was supposed to entertain his numerous fans.

Without any delay, the Police immediately cancelled the event at the Brixton O2 Academy.

According to the Police, eight persons were rushed to hospitals after being entangled in a crowd of people trying to make their way into the London arena.

Two other persons that sustained minor injuries were attended to medically at the scene of the sad incident.

Police disclosed emergency services were called on the night of Thursday after “a large crowd attempted to gain entry without tickets.”

Footages from outside the event venue reveals people in huge numbers pushing to get in.

Officers, ambulance crews alongside firefighters arrived and discovered “a number of people with injuries believed to have been caused by crushing,” the Metropolitan Police Force said.

The Force also said, it would carry out an investigation to determine what actually happened and how officers treated the crowd.

Ade Adelekan, Metropolitan Police Gold Commissioner, said, officers who apply force “know they have to be accountable for their actions.”

Adelekan further said: “This is an extremely upsetting incident which has left four people critically ill in hospital. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.


“A police investigation has been launched, and it will be as thorough and as forensic as necessary to establish exactly what happened last night.”
