Fashola said, the inability of “our contractors” to work on Mondays for almost two years has been a serious hindrance to the completion of the Second Niger Bridge.

The Second Niger Bridge was recently opened for motorists to use for the yuletide season.

The Minister of Works and Housing made these statements when he appeared as a guest on Channels TV.

“These dates keep shifting and people must remember that on the eastern side, our contractors have not been able to work on Mondays for almost two years and that has affected the completion date,” Fashola explained.

He further said, relocating the transmission lines from the East to the West across the Niger River, also is a reason for the delay in completion of the Bridge.

Fashola assured that the Second Niger Bridge will be fully completed in April/May 2023.
