Pele dies at 82: Football stars pour out tributes to late Brazil football legend

Pele, Brazil football icon, has died at the age of 82 in his home country, Brazil.

A statement says, Pele “peacefully passed away”. The Brazil football icon had a tumour removed from his colon in September 2021, through surgery.

He was readmitted to hospital after the tumour was detected in late November, 2022.

He remains the only footballer who has won the World Cup three times in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
