In the last minute of extra time in the quarter finals, Luis Suarez was sent off for denying the Black Stars a goal with an intentional handball on the goal line.

Asamoah Gyan failed to score the penalty kick which was awarded Ghana, and Uruguay went through.

Suarez said, “The Ghana player missed the penalty, not me”. Both countries will slug it out on Friday 2 December in their final Group H match which will decide who goes through into the last-16 of the tournament in Qatar.

Ghana knows that a win against Uruguay will send them straight into the knockouts of the FIFA World Cup 2022, however, a loss will see the South American nation progress if South Korea falls to Portugal.

If both Uruguay and South Korea win, goal difference and possibly goals scored would be used to decide who scales through, however, the Asian nation has one-goal advantage.
