Forward Lionel Messi has clinched the FIFA World Cup Golden Ball, after captaining Argentina to a penalty shootout over France following a tough FIFA World Cup 2022 final at the Lusail Iconic Stadium in Lusail, Qatar.

The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward first won the Golden Ball eight years ago at the Brazil 2014, when Argentina got defeated in the final by Germany.

France forward Kylian Mbappe won the Silver Ball and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric, who won the previous Golden Ball at Russia 2018, won the Bronze Ball.
