Group H – Uruguay failed to scale through the preliminaries of the FIFA World Cup 2022 despite trampling on Ghana by 2-0 in the final match of the Group on Friday 2 December at the Al Janoub Stadium in Qatar.

Video 👇 The Sky Blue thought they had progressed into the knockouts of the tournament after Flamengo midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta found the back of the net twice in fast succession.

However, in the other game of the Group between South Korea and Portugal, the Asian side came from the back to clinch a dramatic 2-1 victory over the European side.

This result led to Uruguay failing to reach the last-16 of the tournament.

South Korea qualified for the last-16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022 based on goals scored – the Asian nation had more goals than Uruguay. The Taegeuk Warriors scored four goals while the Sky Blue scored two.

Portugal took the lead against South Korea early in the 5th minute through Ricardo Horta, the Asian nation levelled through Young-Gwon Kim in the 27th minute and Hee-Chan Hwang scored the winning goal in the 1st minute of additional time.
