Trump said at his Florida estate: “we have to save our country”.
His announcement to run for President of the United States in 2024 is coming after some fellow members of the Republican Party pointed accusing finger at him for the poor performance of the party at the mid-term elections that held last week.
Current US President Joe Biden, who discomfited Donald Trump two years ago, has said he may run for a second term in 2024.
Speaking from the ballroom of his Mar-a-Lago private club in Palm Beach, Florida, to an invited crowd, on Tuesday, 76-year old Trump said: “We are a nation in decline.
“For millions of Americans, the past two years under Joe Biden have been a time of pain, hardship, anxiety and despair.
“In order to make America great and glorious again, I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the United States.”
