FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: Valencia net brace as Ecuador cruise through host nation in tournament opener

Group A – Ecuador kicked off their FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign with a beautiful 2-0 triumph over host nation, Qatar.

Photos 👇 The South Americans were in control at the Al Bayt Stadium and were two goals in front before the end of the first 45 minutes, big thanks to an Enner Valencia brace.

The former English Premier League club West Ham United striker also had a goal controversially cancelled by Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Qatar fought hard to produce any straightforward chances during an astonishingly flat battle, however, Ecuador stood still and drove them back after the break and went ahead to grab all three points.
