FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022: France 4-1 Australia – Giroud net brace in Les Bleus’ come-from-the-back triumph

Group D – Two goals from Italian Serie A club AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has equalled former French striker Thierry Henry’s scoring record.

Photos 👇 France, in their FIFA World Cup 2022 opener match at the Al Janoub Stadium, Qatar, defeated Australia 4-1 to climb to the top spot of the Group.

Oliver Giroud struck twice to help France come from behind to emerge victorious over Australia who took the lead early in the 9th minute through Australian A-League club Adelaide United forward Craig Goodwin.

The other two goals for France came through Juventus central midfielder, Adrien Rabiot and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) forward, Kylian Mbappe to help the Les Bleus clinch all three points and stay atop Group D following the goalless draw between Denmark and Tunisia earlier.
