Premier League: Liverpool V Manchester City – ‘Nobody can compete with Man City’ – Reds Boss Klopp

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool head coach, is of the belief that, no team can “compete” with Manchester City this season, as a result of the financial power the Premier League Champions wield currently.

Over the past four season, Klopp’s Liverpool has rivalled Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

This Sunday, 16 October, the Citizens will lock horns with the Reds at Anfield in a Premier League encounter, and Klopp’s side are 13 points behind their visitors.

Liverpool have struggled with form this campaign – sitting on the 11th spot with 10 points while Manchester City are second on the table with 23 points.

City’s new addition from German Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund, Erling Braut Haaland, undoubtedly, has contributed enormously to Guardiola’s side’s massive success this season.

Haaland has scored a whopping 15 Premier League goals since his arrival at the Etihad in the first nine top flight clashes.

In his pre-match press conference, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, said, “Nobody can compete with City. You have the best team in the world and you put in the best striker on the market. No matter what it costs, you just do it.”

In the area of financial spending, Klopp believes, Liverpool should not act like the champions, as Man City still leads following their spending of £51.1m for the Norwegian sharpshooter, Haaland.

He further said: “City won’t like it, nobody will like it, but you know the answer. What does Liverpool do? We cannot act like them. It’s not possible, not possible.”

Klopp also said that Newcastle United are a club that can boast of a huge financial power, categorising the club alongside Manchester City, saying, they are clubs that can “do what they want financially”.

The German football manager said, “It’s just clear: there are three clubs in world football who can do what they want financially. It’s legal, everything is fine, but they can do whatever they want. Competing with them? It’s not possible to deal with that.

“I heard the Newcastle [sporting director Dan Ashworth] say there’s no ceiling for this club – he’s absolutely right. There’s no ceiling for Newcastle. Congratulations – some clubs have ceilings.”

• Haha! This is Klopp sending an indirect message to Liverpool owners for funds. He needs money to fortify his team.

I see great players in Klopp’s team. Do you think Liverpool needs more players to do better?🤔
