In the history of the awards, for the first time it was given based on the results of the season instead of the calendar year.
The 2022 Ballon d’Or took place at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris France.
In the final rankings of 30 players for the 2022 Ballon d’Or, top players Lionel Messi of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and his Brazilian teammate Neymar were missing as Karim Benzema, Sadio Mane and Kevin de Bruyne came first, second and third respectively on the rankings.
