Revival: Part 2 – The Path of Brokenness – ‘The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart’

As a member of the Body of Christ, one is expected to constantly check one’s life to determine whether the closeness to God is still intact, and if it is discovered that there is/are area(s) where one has fallen short, then, Revival is needed, through prayers and renewal of commitment(s) to the Almighty God.

Even in the Church, Revival is seriously needed as some Churches practise false religion consciously or unconsciously. This simply means, some Churches in this present day are being run the way God frowns at.

I’ll buttress, some Churches have either added or removed from the Word of God, which is supposed to be preached/taught as it is. And this is to satisfy personal interests.

Any church in this kind of situation needs Revival immediately because redemption which is the ultimate reason for the creation of the church is defeated.

So, the church should look up to Jesus Christ, in Him is our hope for redemption, and not false religion, through which our closeness to Jesus Christ is shattered.

Psalm 130:7-8 says, “Let Israel hope in the LORD: for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all iniquities.”

Memory Verse: Psalm 34:18 says, “The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.” This means that only when one is broken that the LORD can come into one’s life and put things that are scattered in order.

Texts: Read Luke 9:23, Psalm 51:17, John 12:24. These Bible scriptures will definitely boost our understanding of what it means to be broken.

Introduction: The need for divine power and fire in one’s spiritual life or to become productive instruments in God’s hand comes with requirements. It is God’s desire to see us wield His power and fire when the time arises as well as represent Him wherever we find ourselves, however, certain unwanted lifestyles are to be weeded out of our lives, this is that point of turn around – the path to Brokennness, which brings about Revival and draws God nigh to us.

Many Christians are powerless spiritually and this makes them to be easily ravaged by satanic attacks, because a lot of christians are seeking for spiritual power without Brokenness. Psalm 51:17 says, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou Wilt not despise.”

Sometimes, there might be experiences of pain and humiliation, James 1:2 says, “My brethren, count it all joy, when ye fall into divers temptations;”, nevertheless, it is the only way to spiritual power.

Don’t give way to deceit or lies, there is no short cut to receiving spiritual power. To enter into a strong relationship with the Almighty God, we need to let go of the “flesh”. Galatians 2:20 says, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

Love, peace, goodness must replace jealousy, malice, anger. I-am-always-correct kind of attitude, boastfulness, selfishness, drunkenness and so on must be shown the way out of our lives.

You want to know God’s interest in our lives? Alright, this is it – He wants to break us and remould us for His use and purpose. People who will readily declare Lord, here I am.

The truth is, if we allow self to continue to control everything about our lives, then, God can do little or nothing with us.
