Ogun State: Baby factory busted, two women arrested

The Ogun State Police Command has nabbed two women, Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu, for running a baby factory in the state.

SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, spokesman of the Command, made known to newsmen in Abeokuta, during a press conference, that the suspects were arrested following an information received by Police at Agbado divisional headquarters.
In his statement, SP Oyeyemi revealed that Christiana Iyama, who resides at No 4, Ibrahim Famuyiwa street, Agbado Ogun State, was running a baby factory located at the above address, where she used to shelter young girls and hired men to get them pregnant after which she would collect the baby on delivery and sell to her waiting buyers.
Oyeyemi said: “Upon the information, the DPO Agbado division, SP Awoniyi Adekunle mobilized his detectives to the area where the said Christiana D’ivoire Iyama and Margaret Ogwu were arrested.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that Margaret Ogwu was one the girls harboured by Christiana D’ivoire who employed the service of a man to impregnate her and collected the child on delivery, which she sold at the rate of N400,000 to one of her customers.”
He said, the suspect went ahead to open up to the Police that she has sold up to three children from different women to her customers.
CP Lanre Bankole, Commissioner of Police, has given the order for the case to be transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for more investigation and speedy prosecution.
