The Englishman has been taunted by his own fans both while in action for club and country this season.

The defender’s “mistakes” in the build-up during England’s Uefa Nations League encounter against Germany cost the Three Lions two goals. The match ended 3-3.

Red Devils manager Erik Ten Hag, said, “I back him because I believe in him. It’s about him. I’m sure he can do it. He’ll turn this around. I am really convinced of that.”

For his central defence, Ten Hag preferred Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, and midfielder Bruno Fernandes wearing the Captain’s armband in recent weeks ahead of Maguire.

This season, Maguire has only featured thrice for Manchester United.

Left-back teammate both at Club and Country, Luke Shaw, earlier said, this week, Maguire has been criticised “more than I’ve ever seen before in football”.

Due to injury, Maguire will not feature for Manchester United when they lock horns against rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday in a Premier League match.
