The Ogun State Police Command has placed a ban on trading and hawking activities on the long bridge following reports of robbery on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Some armed men on Wednesday at gunpoint dispossessed users of their belongings.
According to a statement by Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun State Police spokesperson; some of the hoodlums do disguise to be hawkers during traffic gridlock on the bridge, and use the opportunity to execute their robbery.
Oyeyemi, with immediate effect, directed hawkers and traders to desist from any business activity on the bridge, to be able to put an end to attacks on commuters and residents.
He revealed that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, deployed his tactical teams to the area to support the divisional Police Officers in surveying the area.
Oyeyemi stated: “To this end, the Command is hereby using this medium to warn all those hawking goods on the bridge to quit with immediate effect in order to sanitize the environment and deter the criminals from perpetrating crime on that bridge and anywhere around.”
The Commissioner through Oyeyemi assured commuters and residents of their safety as he plans to “flush out the hoodlums”: “the command will do everything within the ambit of the law to flush out the hoodlums in the area.”
