The Falconets were tipped for victory against the Netherlands following their beautiful preliminary stage performances – beating France, South Korea and Canada to clinch all nine points in Group C.
The Chris Musa Danjuma-led Falconets were aggressively approached by the Netherlands with Zera Hulswit converting a cross to hand the Europeans an early lead in the 11th minute.
Netherlands extended the lead in the 33rd minute to make it 2-0 against Nigeria.

The Falconets charged hard in the second 45 minutes but the Netherlands held on and defended to ensure they recorded a cleansheet against Nigeria.
Despite changes made by Falconets head coach Chris Musa Danjuma, there was no breakthrough and Nigeria’s U-20 Women’s team’s hopes of reaching the final of the competition crashed in Alajuela.
